Having been involved in painting since graduating from the University of Reading in 2001 and having tired of the safe figurative route, Enzo Marra has allowed elements of mythology and bestial metamorphosis to concentrate the relevance of the individuals he paints onto canvas, sculpts, collages, or merely draws. The use of contrasting hues within environment and textural brush strokes adding to their impact, their viability as social commentaries. Influenced by far ranging artists, from Soutine to Beckmann, Schiele to Giacometti, Goya to El Greco, the concept of expression and vitality within pigment and message is visible in all his works. His ceramic sculptures sharing the stringent truth to materials which his canvases display, the hued tinting strengthening their presence and not merely decorating them. Whether the figure is becoming animal, or the animal is becoming human, is very much in the viewers eye, the switching of signifying fur hues also playing a part in the open traffic of identities, qualities, strengths, discarding and gaining psychological meanings that are far deeper than the colours and posture and cemented probabilities they and we wear. His most recent exhibition being his first international group show at the Primopiano Livingallery, Lecce Italy "American Sandwich".

The exhibition " Catch by the Eye, Save in the Heart" concept was created by professional artist Magdalena Rutkowska in 2004. Her first exhibition of the series took place at the Menier Gallery in London Bridge and was a huge success. Magda brought together a group of talented, professional people who were happy to show their work to the public, but the aim of the project was also to awaken the hidden artistic talent in the souls of visitors. An empty canvas was placed at the heart of the exhibition, with paints and brushes left freely available. The artists encouraged the visitors to create an irreplaceable piece of art. The name of every single person who left their mark on the canvas was also noted carefully in the book of artists responsible for the painting. There are already two canvasses painted by “everyday people”: one painted at the Menier Gallery, London and the second one following Magda's second show at the “Form and Colour Gallery” in Warsaw. It is amazing how different the images are. Looking at the canvases you can almost read the “state of mind” of the individual countries. You can see the sadness and the happiness of general public expressed in different colours and shapes influenced by the culture they live in.
She has completed a number of corporate and private commissions including a renovation project of a significantly historic building, a museum of agriculture and home and laboratory of Marie Currie Sklodowska where she was deputed as project designer and manager. Her" Catch by the eye Save in the heart"exhibition,is a great success, and it getting more and more popular all the time!

* Cast of Face 25th May - 1st June 2008
Artspace Gallery Exhibition PictureBoth Floors

We are proud to present an exhibit by the well known Russian photographer Konstantin Tublin. The exhibit is called "A Cast of Face." Tublin is a prominent representative of the St. Petersburg school of photographic realism. His works have been on display in numerous Russian art galleries and are found in many private collections. Landscapes and portraits by Mr. Tublin feature prominently in contemporary media libraries. Both ordinary people and public figures, such as pianist Polina Osetinskaya and writer Irina Denezhkina, are subjects of his work. Konstantin Tublin's fame extends beyond Russia, however. For many years he has been collaborating with Limbus Press, one of the oldest publishing houses in Russia. His photographs have been used in designs of books published by Limbus, as well as international partners that have acquired the rights to his works. In addition to photographs that Konstantin Tublin has taken over the past ten years throughout the world, the exhibit will feature book covers with designs based on Tublin's photographs.

The "A Cast of Face" exhibit has been shown in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Now the most complete version of the exhibit will be on view in London.

Pashet was born to highly prolific artists Paul Schmidt and Margery Bradfield in East London, South Africa, in 1975. Surrounded by this constant creative presence at home, lead to art becoming her passion in life and later her calling.

She studied fine art and design at JHB School of Art, Ballet, Drama and Music, followed by commercial digital design work for advertising; however she still considers her parents to be her mentors from early years of dedicated training, giving her the tools, the freedom and the inspiration to explore the world of imagination and creativity.

Her work has quickly become highly sought after from collaborations with other artists and commissioned pieces that decorate houses and offices of many private collectors to large scale print and murals for commercial public spaces.
Previous exhibitions include London, New York, Greece and South Africa.

She now lives in London, England, and specializes in Photography, Digital Art, Collage, Painting and clothes design.
She draws great inspiration from femininity and names the Female Nude, Portraiture, the Natural World and the transcendence of Life itself as her favorite subjects.

“The female form is something to be celebrated… continuous curves of flesh flow into circles and spheres that shape shift into blood cells, atoms, planets, and cherries… these are the fruits of life!”

Her current project - “Heaven’s Muse”, a fantastical exploration of the fine art nude, is to be published in an A3 luxury hard backed Coffee Table book and exhibited in London in July 2008 and in New York in December 2008.
The eponymous Muse, Marina, features as the star character and central inspiration of her project: “Marina is an inspirational model to work with… a perfectly sculpted fantasy heroine that comes to life in front of the camera! Her pose, character and essence feed the imagination…”

The diverse combination of mixed media from digital and analog to paint and collage creates a layered depth to her work. She uses her camera to capture the expressive essence of her subject followed by the transmogrified digital abstraction she refers to as the “layering of realities.” This is where the model is suspended in time and a story begins to take place. A collage of nature, landscape, architecture and other earthly objects are placed to form a mandala around the figure.
The process is completed by the intricate dance of her brush over the printed canvas, forming molecular patterns, dots and expressive line work acting almost as a guide for the eye to move freely throughout the image.

“Provocative, sensual, dream-like beauty using her power of seduction to awaken even the senses of a stone… I want the viewer to simply submerge themselves into a moment’s pleasure.”

Name - Kelvin Halloran

Born - 1958

I've always been passionate about art for as long as I can remember.
I started painting many years ago and realized that it helped me to deal with the pressures of being a carer for my two severely disabled sons (Dan and Tom). Art is powerful in many ways - not just to the viewer.
Being a carer is very stressful and emotional and the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with. (So many emotions). Painting is my release that others seem to relate to.

Abstract

Art to me is my life, my abstract world, a world with no rules, a complex world of colour, shape that produces it's own language - no right or wrongs just a complex code to try and break to get it to communicate to others.

Figurative photography

My inspiration is from human nature and my own emotions experiences.
I want the viewer to ask questions, feel emotion even if at times it feels uncomfortable.
My sons are now adults and my wife and I are in a position to exhibit my work with a view to sell.
This exhibition is a cross section of my work and my life.
Kelvin.

Peter Thomas Pastellist

Peter Thomas was born in 1953. Educated at Uppingham School, he studied sculpture and printmaking for his BA degree at Kingston . After taking an Art Teachers’ Certificate course at Brighton he became artist in residence at Felsted School, then taught Art and Design at Uppingham until, in 1981 he moved to the Dordogne. There he
has converted an old barn and outbuildings into his house and studio.

The beautiful landscape of this region of south-west France has been a major inspiration for Peter’s work. Originally a watercolourist, he now uses pastels almost exclusively, working ‘en plein air’. He finds pastel the ideal medium for using outdoors, allowing him to achieve rich colours and textures and deftly capture the fleeting effects of light, colour and season. He often revisits favourite subjects, and while delighting in the small details of the French or English countryside - bales in a field, reflections in a pond or river, a wildflower-freckled hedgebank - Peter also travels widely and has found great inspiration in more exotic subject matter found in the landscapes of the West Indes, Patagonia, Brazil, Zanzibar and North Africa, amongst others.

Peter has exhibited very successfully in numerous one-man shows and mixed exhibitions in France, the UK and the USA, gaining several prestigious awards over the years, including, in 2001, the title of ‘Maître Pastelliste de France’ having been elected a member of the Société des Pastellistes de France only the previous year.

A member of the Artistes Indépendants d’Aquitaine since 1984, he shows with them annually and has twice won the Premier Grand Prix de la Ville de Bordeaux. He had six pastels accepted for the Salon des Beaux Arts in the Grand Palais, Paris in 1987. That year he exhibited at Glyndebourne Opera Festival for the first time, he has accepted invitations to show his work there twice since then.

Lydia Bauman and Grant Simon Rogers are delighted to bring you advance news of their exciting forthcoming exhibition of landscape and wildlife paintings of Australia.

In 2006 two established British artists, Lydia Bauman and Grant Rogers, travelled around Australia in search of inspiration for a joint project. Their aim was to present their own interpretations of the extraordinary - and often extraordinarily beautiful - landscape forms and unique indigenous animal species.

Two years on, their experiences are recaptured in a body of work of extraordinary vividness and vibrancy which, thanks to the support of NRG Consulting, will soon be on show at La Galleria. This gallery - located in London’s Pall Mall – will be showing the exhibition from the 19th to the 25th May. If those dates don’t suit your calendar, there will be a further opportunity to see these wonderful works between 29th September and 12th October at the West End gallery, Artspace (in Maddox Street, London W1).

As visitors will see, award-winning landscape artist Lydia Bauman has used her richly-textured mixed media technique to capture the huge contrasts in this vast continent, from the aridity and heat of the Outback, to the tropical lushness of New South Wales and North Queensland. Lydia deploys an unusual range of materials in her work, including plaster, resin, wax, sand and a variety of pigments. Painted on large panels ( 4’x4’ and 4’x5’ )and glowing with colour, these compositions convey effortlessly the grandeur and complexity of this compelling country.

Lydia depicts all those familiar landmarks, such as Uluru (formerly known as Ayers Rock) in changing light. This is new, bold and refreshingly immediate treatment succeeds in capturing the spirit of the place, while remaining true to Lydia’s individual and instantly recognisable style.

As for Grant Simon Rogers, here is an artist who depicts animals rather than being an animal or wildlife artist – a significant distinction, as his paintings and drawings demonstrate. His work is often large in scale, sometimes amusing and frequently challenging. In his latest collection Grant has tried to combine not only his interest in different scales and media with depicting both the diversity of wildlife to be found on the world’s largest island and the rich diversity of this new country, whether witnessed in a guest house or the de luxe hotels of Alice Springs, Yulara and Daintree.

Both Lydia and Grant agree that this new joint exhibition marks not only a new departure for them both, but also gives the public an opportunity to view what are already being heralded as some of these fine artists’ best work. So, whatever your cultural tastes, interest or allegiances: this event is definitely not to be missed.
